Dead Head Fred

Imagine King Kong guest-starring in The Big Sleep, or Dracula finding his way in to Philip Marlowe’s waiting room. This is the kind of world developers Vicious Cycle Software envisioned for their Playstation Portable game Dead Head Fred: a unique blend of film noir and horror, which they called “twisted noir”. They also knew it would take a special character to draw the player into this world. That character is Dead Head Fred.When Fred wakes up at the beginning of the game, he is having a bad day. Namely, he’s deadby decapitation. However, he has been resurrected with a jar containing his brain and eyes in place of the old cabeza. Missing most of his memories, Fred is told by his resurrecter, Dr. Steiner, that he is a private detective who was investigating gangster Ulysses Pitt before Pitt caught on and had him killed. (more…)
